Do you like Air France, too?
I can sometimes be a little obsessive about samples...I searched and searched Google but no one was talking about where the sample ('Sorta like a dream, isn't it? No, better.') from the song "Collapsing at Your Doorstep" (video above) is from. I actually was thinking it was from an old movie with Margaret O' just felt like I'd heard it before. But as it turns out, I certainly have not heard it before, haha. It was just one of those things that sounds familiar.

After stealthy research (and thanks to people who apparently are obsessed with this show), I have found the sample!! (fast forward to about 6:50 min)

hahah there it is. As far as I know, no one else has discovered this? Even the music is sampled. Also, there is an episode called No Way Down, which is the name of the album, and also another track (that probably samples from that episode?). I'd never even heard of this insane Beauty and the Beast show. It's from 1987 and had THREE seasons! Did any of you watch it?

  1. I remember that show -- I used to watch it! Man, I feel OLD! I'd forgotten all about it.

  2. I used to watch it too :-) I don't feel old, I feel lucky I didn't miss out on all the weirdness that was the 1980's :-)

  3. Hello Jill!
haha no i totally agree..somehow this entire show was out of my radar haha. maybe it was on past my bedtime?

  4. anabela- haha so it was totally normal for there to be a show like this, at that time? like did you ever think twice- this is kinda weird? hahah apparently it made sense to a lot of people back then.

  5. Oh my gosh, I do remember this show! I recall thinking it was unique at the time. I'm the same way about samples - though I've never had the good fortune of a sample search leading me down such an unexpected rabbit hole!

  6. I liked it because it was a little bit spooky! Now I would probably think it was totally cheesy, but he lived underground and it was creepy! Also I was 9 or something. The 80s were so corny!

  7. I knew of this show but never watched it :) Many people were totally involved with this show!
The main actress was married to the director guy who was obsessed with making the Titanic movie.

Caitlin, you know the two best things about the 80's:)

  8. Ahhhh yes. My mom was obsessed with Vincent (the beast). I'd bet she still has Vhs copies of the show somewhere. Did you know the Beast is Hellboy (Ron Perlman)? Watched it every week with her. Cheeslicious!

  9. hahahah i had NO idea it was ron perlman but that is amazing and maybe i should have known somehow haha. man oh man. so so funny. the best part is was this acceptable back then? ahaha why was everyone dressing up all nuts?
does anyone remember the zoobily zoo kids show? what in the world was up with that?

Thanks for your comments! I try to always respond.
